Lilburn Schools Join The Clean Air Campaign to Fight Air Pollution

As air pollution continues to be a problem in Georgia, Gwinnett students are getting involved in the fight for better air quality.  Nearly 60 schools in Gwinnett County call themselves Clean Air Schools and work with Georgia nonprofit The Clean Air Campaign to educate students, parents and faculty about ways they can improve the air.

Two Lilburn schools are being recognized by The Clean Air Campaign as school champions for their recent efforts.

Arcado Elementary School’s Environmental Club is taking on The Clean Air Campaign’s No-Idling Program for the fourth year in a row.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) in partnership with Participant Media today hosted a Town Hall meeting to further community engagement in the ongoing conversation about the educational issues highlighted in the critically-acclaimed documentary, WAITING FOR “SUPERMAN.”  Community partners with top local and national education, business and government leaders agreed that community linkages are critical to solving America’s education crisis.

“Partnering for Change: The Role of the Community in Improving Education for All Children,” included compelling clips from the film and a discussion focusing on the importance of community involvement in working to provide every child a great education.

Moderated by Southeast Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League, Bill Nigut, the panel participants included; United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta President, Milton J.

The DeKalb County School System will host two Community Meetings RE: Superintendent Search Process

Atlanta, GA--  The DeKalb County School System will host two Community Meetings in December regarding the DeKalb County Board of Education Superintendent Search Process. The public is invited to attend both meetings. 

The Community Meetings will be held at the following locations: 

  • Peachtree Middle School at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7 
  • Columbia High School at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9

The Board of Education is seeking a permanent superintendent for the DeKalb County School System.

Dekalb Parents... Special Meeting for You to Meet your State Senators and Representatives

Atlanta, GA--  The DeKalb County Council of PTA's has organized a special event that will allow parents in Dekalb County to come and partake in a forum with their State Senators and Representatives.

Parents will get the latest information that affects their children and their schools, and will have the opportunity to bring up many of the other educational issues they may care about.
