2 Chick-fil-A employees win $1,000 scholarships

TUCKER, Ga. -- Two employees at the Northlake Festival Chick-fil-A in Tucker have been selected to receive this year's Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship is given annually to Chick-fil-A team members across the country who go above and beyond in their jobs and in the classroom.

Tucker's winners, Nick Pallas and Lauren Spratte, have both worked for Chick-fil-A for more than four years. Pallas is a member of the Class of 2014 at Georgia State University, where he is studying finance. Spratte is majoring in marketing at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business and is scheduled to graduate in the spring.

"These students have had a positive influence on our business for many years and both have the potential to accomplish great things," Brad Spratte, operator of the Northlake Festival restaurant, said in a statement.

ATLANTA -- Eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill just got even better.

All Atlanta-area Chipotle locations will donate the day's proceeds to the Education Garden at Piedmont Park this Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The giveaway is part of the restaurant chain's recognition of Food Day, a nationwide movement that works to improve food policies.

Chipotle will give the Education Garden up to $10,000. More than 800 children visit the garden every year to learn about natural and organic gardening methods.

The popular neighborhood tavern is featuring its six-week long “Red, White and Brew” menu. During this time, all eight locations of Marlow’s will offer special dishes and beverages that truly celebrate the summer season in America. This is also the time for grill masters to show off their skills in Marlow’s Third Annual Grilling Recipe Contest.

Smoothie King raising money for Bert's Big Adventure

ATLANTA -- Smoothie King locations across metro Atlanta are spending the entire month of June raising money for Bert's Big Adventure.

Customers who give $1 to the non-profit will receive a $2 "bounce back" coupon from Smoothie King.

The goal is to raise at least $5,000 by the end of the month.

Bert's Big Adventure, which was founded by Bert Weiss of Q100's "The Bert Show," sends children with chronic and terminal illnesses on an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World.
