2 Days Left for Early Run-Off Voting

Atlanta, GA-- Early Voting for the Runoffs is coming to an end in Dekalb County for the General Runoff Election.  Early Voting will last until 11/24 at 4380 Memorial Dr. in Decatur, only. 

The hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no Saturday voting.

Further, there will be no satellite Advance Voting locations.

The Runoff Election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Early/Advance Voting for the General Runoff Election in Dekalb County Ends 11/24

Atlanta, GA-- Early Voting has just begun in Dekalb County for the General Runoff Election.  Early Voting will last from 11/17 to 11/24 at 4380 Memorial Dr. in Decatur, only.

DeKalb Citizens Continue to Reap Benefits from DA's Successful Lawyer Apprentice Program

Atlanta, GA--  The successful lawyer apprentice program begun more than a year ago by the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office continues to provide monetary and legal benefits to DeKalb County residents.

Last week six more apprentices -- who had been working at no cost to DeKalb County taxpayers and the District Attorney’s Office -- were sworn in as full members of the Georgia Bar. The apprentices are now authorized to perform any of the work conducted by any of the office’s full-time assistant district attorneys.

Last Week of Early Voting. Polls Have Extended Hours

Atlanta, GA--  In an effort to increase voter turnout in DeKalb County, Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis and Board of Commissioners Presiding Officer Larry Johnson announced that the Elections Office will be openfor extended hours.

During Advance Voting week only, Oct. 25-29, four additional sites with extended hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

New Chief of Police for DeKalb County

Recently, DeKalb County has announced the appointment of William D. O’Brien as DeKalb County Police Department’s new Chief of Police.

O’Brien is a 25-year veteran of the DeKalb County Police Department and DeKalb County native; O'Brien graduated from Redan High School in 1981, then attended West Georgia College and DeKalb Community College.

He obtained an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from DeKalb Technical College and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University. He graduated from the 23rd DeKalb County Police Academy in 1985 and has since been a Police Officer Standards and Training certified law enforcement officer.

Early Voting Available in DeKalb County. 1 More Day, Poll Hours Extended

Atlanta, GA--  Early Voting just got a little more convenient in DeKalb County. 

In an effort to increase voter turnout in DeKalb County, Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis and Board of Commissioners Presiding Officer Larry Johnson announced that the Elections Office would be open for Early Voting on Saturday, Oct. 16 and 23, at 4380 Memorial Dr., in Decatur.  Now that the Saturday Voting is over,you still have 1 more day for Early Voting. Poll Hours have been extended this week.

DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis recently appointed District 7 Commissioner Connie Stokes

Atlanta, GA--  DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis recently appointed Super District 7 Commissioner Connie Stokes as chair of the newly established DeKalb County Code Enforcement Task Force.  The task force, which includes community leaders, county officials, and other key individuals, will identify and assist in the implementation of solution-driven recommendations to address code enforcement issues affecting communities throughout DeKalb.

“Commissioner Stokes has taken the lead on addressing code enforcement issues in our county, most recently with the creation of DeKalb’s Foreclosure Registry program.  I am confident she will bring that same foresight and leadership to our code enforcement task force,” said CEO Ellis.

The DeKalb County Code Enforcement Task Force will hold a series of meetings that are open to the public.  The dates and locations are as follows:
