TUCKER, Ga. -- An on-duty DeKalb County Police officer has been arrested on sexual assault charges.

According to DeKalb County Police Major S.R. Fore, Darren Dye-Harriel is charged with aggravated sodomy, kidnapping, making false statements and violation of oath of office.

Police said they received the sexual assault allegation on Wednesday, and the arrest was made hours later.

“I am deeply disturbed by these allegations.” said Interim Chief James Conroy in a statement.  “We will not tolerate any such criminal actions.  I am pleased with the swift investigative actions of our detectives, which led to the arrest and charges in the case.”

Dye-Harriel is being held at DeKalb County Jail. He's been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, police said. He is  one-year veteran of the department, police said.
