Tucker robbery, attack suspects still at large

TUCKER, Ga. -- The DeKalb County Police Department is working to locate a suspect who they believe robbed and attacked a person using a metal pipe.

11Alive obtained the incident report from the DCPD, which said the incident happened around 8:30 on Wednesday evening, at the Happy Food Mart of 2199 Idlewood Rd.

Police responded to the scene just after 9:00 p.m., after getting a call of an armed robbery. Kamlesh Kumar, an employee of the convenience store was working at the time. He told police that two black males dressed in all black and wearing masks entered the store. One of them was armed with a metal pipe.

Kumar said the two men came behind the counter, and one began hitting him on the back of the head, using the pipe. During the attack, the second suspect took cash from the register.

According to Kumar, both suspects then left the store, and fled in a dark-colored SUV. Kumar did not know the vehicle's make or model.

At the scene, police saw large lacerations to Kumar's head, along with blood on the store's floor and front door handle.

Medics took Kumar to the Gwinnett Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

A witness, Oscar Garlicia, was in the convenience store at the time of the crime, but told police he was in the rear of the store when it happened.

According to police, there was an unknown witness who gave a partial tag number of the suspects' vehicle - 2216.
