Dekalb County Ministers Declare January 8th Community Peace Day

Dekalb County Ministers Declare January 8th Community Peace Day

Dekalb County, GA--  (submitted by Edward Gates Bey)

This year, a Dekalb county ministry has said that “enough is enough” and has declared January 8, 2011 as a time to stop the violence and give peace a chance. On that day, members of Moorish

Science Temple of America, Temple #21, along with several other local organizations and human service professionals want to dedicate a total of 24 hours to reflect on the possibility of life without violence. The aim of Peace Day 2011 is to stop the violence, eliminate poverty and promote national pride.

Regardless of race, creed, nationality or sexual preference, the moratorium on violence is a call for action from within the community. The planned truce on January 8, is a deliberate attempt to prevent any occurrence of violence on that day and replace it with collective participation in a day of family friendly activities designed to educate and entertain.
