Offensively Funny Original Musical Parody to Debut in Atlanta

ATLANTA -- How often is a musical rated 'O' for Offensive?  Trevor Petty, the writer and producer of this original show, thinks not often enough.  Unmasked: The Phantom of the Flopera is exactly that, hilariously and equally offensive and laugh out loud fun.  This original show comes with this warning: Unmasked is an equal opportunity offender, without regard to race, religion, gender, political affiliation or sexual orientation and has been rated "O" for “Offensive” by the Committee Against Creativity in America (CA-CA).  The show is produced by The Spirit of Broadway.

Petty, along with lyricist and director Mark Davis, wrote this hysterical parody, loosely based on The Phantom of the Opera, presenting the Phantom from a totally different perspective. One cursed theatre, two gullible lesbian theatre owners, two BFF’s turned best enemies and one womanizing director~throw in some queens, some religious wing nuts, a Republican, a Democrat and one dominatrix and you’ve got a crazy, laugh-out-loud story that will leave you offended and loving every minute of it. Petty said, "I am happy to once again partner with The Spirit of Broadway to bring this fun show to Atlanta and am thrilled that all the funds raised will benefit the FMCC's Compassion programs."

Unmasked is the third show that Petty has collaborated on.  Petty grew up in Florida and attended FSU as a Music major.  Petty not only writes, but also acts, sings, and directs; he has been in Aida at the Cobb Energy Center, Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, The Wedding Singer,   Petty collaborated on the original dramedy Reunion that debuted last year from The Spirit of Broadway as well as wrote The Backstage Project.   In his day job, Petty works as a Realtor covering the metro-Atlanta area and was recently featured on HGTV's House Hunters.  Trevor, and his partner Rob, live in Woodstock, Ga with their two chihuahuas, Rico and Ollie.

The Spirit of Broadway performance benefits the Homeless Outreach Programs of the First Metropolitan Community Center. 100% of all proceeds fund the FMCC Food Bank, Weekly Hot Meal for the Needy, The Clothing Closet and all Compassion Programs of FMCC.  This year's premier corporate sponsor is Olympus Worldwide Chauffeured Services.  Olympus Vice President of Sales Blake Myers stated, "We are very happy to sponsor this highly anticipated program here in Atlanta.  Although we provide services worldwide, Atlanta is our home and we are proud to do our part to help the community.  Break a leg everyone!"

There will be a silent auction the evening of the show to help raise even more funds for this great cause.   You'll find unique items, great gifts and even travel packages donated by our corporate sponsors and at a fraction of what you would expect to pay. The price of general admission tickets are $20.00 and the performance will be at First MCC's Community Center and Theatre Hall located at 1379 Tullie Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30329.  If you purchase 2 or more, enter GP6912 in the field for "Member Price" and the rate will be $15.00 per ticket.
