Did you know that 1 out of 4 kids is bullied? Every 7 minutes a child, maybe yours, is bullied on the playground with little or no intervention.

Teach your children that bullying is not okay through song and rhyme with Today's Scoop: $10 General Admission Ticket to The Brand New Kid, presented to you by Synchronicity Theatre at 7 Stages Main Stage Theatre in Little Five Points. This offer allows you to buy up to 4 tickets – bring the whole family!

Synchronicity introduces the Atlanta community to a musical lesson in tolerance and acceptance, based on a book by one of America’s favorite television personalities, Emmy-Award winning author Katie Couric. A great message for kids 4 years old and up!

Directed by Cat Mew, written by Melanie Marnich and Michael Friedman, Musical Direction by Daniel Hilton, Choreography by Tom Kidd, The Brand New Kid, part of Synchronicity's Family Series, will run February 22 through March 27th.

Remember what it was like on the first day of school? Sometimes new teachers, new books, new faces can be really overwhelming for kids. For Lazlo S. Gasky, his first day of second grade is even scarier. He's the new kid in school and while he's a typical seven-year-old boy, he doesn't look or speak quite like the others. You see, Lazlo has just moved to the U.S. from his native Hungary. His accent, different hair and European mannerisms make him stand out so naturally, he becomes the target of teasing and taunting from the other kids. Ellie McSnelly, another classmate whose had it rough at the hands of bullies, can relate to Lazlo. Instead of joining in with the others and taking the heat off her, Ellie decides to try to learn more about Lazlo and soon realizes that friendship has the power to cross any cultural divide. The two teach their classmates a valuable lesson – one that's not going to be on any test – about the need to give people a chance and that being yourself is the best way to be.
